Seals is an experimental geometric sculpture, about 28 inches
in diameter.
The parts are somewhat seal-shaped, made of laser-cut and
laser-etched wood, with beveled edges where they join.
Sixty components need to be joined with cable ties to make the
complete sculpture.
I led this assembly activity at the Simons Center for Geometry
and Physics at Stony Brook University.
Several people can work on it at the same time from different
directions.
It took a half hour or more to get everything together.
(In the background you can see
Dragons, which we
built first.)
After completing it, I took the parts to Google Headquarters
in Mountain View, CA,
where it is now on display after I led a group of people to
build it at the 2014
SciFoo
Camp.
